MEGAN FOX TO PLAY CATWOMAN?

megan-fox-4-30-08

So the internet is buzzing this morning with the latest Batman 3 rumors.  According to UK newspaper The Sun, Megan Fox has agreed to play Catwoman in the next Batman film.

Chances of this rumor being true are about 1%.   This is the same newspaper that said Eddie Murphy was going to be the Riddler.  At this point I’m not concerned if it’s true or false; I’m only concerned with the incredible images my brain is producing of Megan Fox in a black latex suit.  Niiiice.

INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS REVIEW

inglourious-basterds-1

Expectations are a difficult thing to manage – especially when you’re a Quentin Tarantino fan.  I’ve loved everything he’s done including the much maligned Grindhouse: Death Proof.

The most appealing thing about watching a QT film is that he makes movies for movie fans.  He knows his audience will get the jokes and the absurdity.  They’ll watch an opening scene like the one from Inglourious Basterds and know that he’s channeling Sergio Leone’s classic The Good, The Bad & The Ugly.  We get it.  We like it.  We expect it.

So my expectations for Inglorious Basterds were high – very high in fact.  So much so that I went to see it opening night.  And my expectations were gladly met.  I loved every single minute of its 2 hour and 33 minute run time.  It’s brilliant.  It’s a masterpiece.  And you either get it or you don’t.

The critics I’ve read that had a problem with it are the ones that don’t get it.  The ones that look at it as “Nazi hate porn.”  They claim it’s insensitive to the Holocaust and his character Hans Landa – the “Jew Hunter” – is not evil enough.  These critics are missing the point.  He’s not re-writing history; he’s re-imaging it and it’s fun to watch.  It’s Hollywood in its most grandiose form.

Col. Hans Landa  – played by a soon-to-be Oscar nominated Christopher Waltz – will be Tarantino’s most memorable character EVER.  He’s makes the audience uncomfortable every time he’s on screen (think Anton Chigurh from No Country For Old Men with an absurd sense of humor).

The other real surprise for me was Brad Pitt’s role as backwoods Tennessee native Lt. Aldo Raine.  I had seen enough trailers to know that his accent was borderline ridiculous but it works perfectly here.  Pitt likes gambling with his roles and they always seem to pay off.  This won’t be Pitt’s most memorable role but will be a nice addition to the resume of one of the best actor’s of our lifetime.

Tarantino fans will debate where this registers in his body of work.  I think it should be close to the top.  He continues to stretch boundaries and build on every movie he makes.  He’s exactly what you should want out of a movie director.  I can’t wait for his next movie.

CHET’S RATING: 4.75 out of 5 stars

MEGAN FOX TO HOST SNL

megan-fox-saturday-night-live-host-04

Megan Fox is set to host Saturday Night Live’s season premiere episode on September 26.  I know I said I would cool it with Megan Fox posts, but she actually looks really pretty here – which is a change from looking one-night-stand hot.  I still don’t believe she can act worth a shit but who really cares.
