The AP reports that George Steinbrenner, owner of the New York Yankees, has passed away this morning from a heart attack.  He turned 80 on July 4.  He will be missed by the millions of Yankees fans and baseball fans that inhabit this earth.

From NBC Sports:

Steinbrenner has demanded results and got them running America’s most successful sports franchise. The Yankees have won seven World Series titles and 11 American League pennants since he bought the fabled club in 1973.

“Winning is the most important thing in my life, after breathing,” he once said.

Very sad day for Sports.  I’m thinking the Yankees go out and win a pennant for the Boss.
