GASLIGHT ANTHEM – AMERICAN SLANG

The ’59 Sound was on constant rotation in my car last summer, but it took seeing them live to make me a true believer.  Their new album American Slang is exactly what you’re expecting and hopefully what you wanted from the New Jersey rock and rollers.  The tunes make you want to get in your car and drive anywhere really fast with the windows down.  Great summer album.  Go and get it.

STONES IN EXILE (TRAILER)

F**k yeah.  I can’t quit listening to this album.  I’ve heard so many rumors about the recording of it, it’d be nice to know the truth.  Thanks to @TobyShuster for the info.  I’m all over this dvd.

THE CLASH – TRAIN IN VAIN

The Clash are my third favorite band of all time (behind The Beatles & The Ramones and The Rolling Stones come in 4th).  If I could make music, I would make music like the Clash.  What’s not to like about their sound and their attitude?  If you’re not educated, get educated.  Start with London Calling and then get back to me.  I’ll instruct you from there.

LOVE WILL TEAR US APART

I’ve been listening to Joy Division non-stop for 2 days straight so via Twitter I declared it a Joy Division kind of Friday.  By some strange coincidence I stumbled upon the picture above on Drake’s blog.  He used it in the post featuring his new single “Find Your Love” – which sounded like a much different Drake than we’re used to.  I think I’ll like it more when I buy the album on June 15.  I’m just glad to see Drake and I are on the same page lately.

BAND YOU SHOULD KNOW: J RODDY WALSTON

They’re actually called J Roddy Walston & The Business but I hate it when my titles take two lines.  This song is called “Times Are A Staying.”  It’s been out for a couple of years and I’ve neglected posting it due to laziness.  They just signed to Vagrant Records (same label as Chet favorite The Hold Steady) and have a new album coming out soon.  Jump on the bus before there’s no room left.
