RADIOHEAD’S NEW VIDEO

Radiohead’s new video for “Lotus Flower” creeps me out a bit.  I’m not sure if it’s Thom Yorke’s dancing or if it’s because it reminds me so much of this:

KINGS OF LEON – RADIOACTIVE (VIDEO)

Ok Kings of Leon, what is this?  When you sell out Madison Square Garden you can do whatever the hell you want.  I don’t think the song is awful.  I don’t think it’s great either.  Ever notice when a band gets big enough they feel the need to add a black choir to their music?

NEW TUNE TUESDAY: THE ARCADE FIRE

The Arcade Fire is arguably the best band of our generation.  I can’t think of another band that gets me as excited as they do.  I know deep down they’re politically charged, but they say things so eloquently with their music that often times I overlook the message.  I don’t really care what they’re saying as long as they keep me rocking.

The Suburbs is more of the same escapism you’re used to from The Arcade Fire and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.  In fact it’s a good thing – it’s a perfect kick in the seat.  Let’s get up and go do something.  I don’t know what, but I don’t want to be stuck here.  Ya dig?

I don’t need to tell you what songs to download or how to listen to them.  Just buy the whole damn thing and listen from start to finish.  You won’t be disappointed.

OASIS – TIME FLIES…1994-2009

I make no apologies for loving Oasis since 1994.  “Live Forever” and “Supersonic” inspired me to pick up the guitar and write songs.  (What’s The Story) Morning Glory will always be in my list of favorite albums.  I usually stay away from greatest hit packages especially when I own the artist’s whole back catalogue, but Time Flies…1994-2009 is probably one the strongest greatest hits packages I’ve ever seen from any artist.  You get 27 tunes for $10.  Can’t beat that.  Some notables here (and one’s you probably haven’t heard) are “Whatever”, “Stand By Me”, “Lyla”, “She Is Love”, and “Little By Little.”  Download and enjoy.

SUCKERS – BLACK SHEEP (VIDEO)

Go buy their album on itunes immediately. I’ll give you your money back if you don’t love it (I’ll think about it at least – depends on who you are and if I like you).

Vodpod videos no longer available.

ANDY LOSES TOUCH WITH NEW MUSIC

I’m not sure I could love Andy Rooney any more and for all the wrong reasons.  Enjoy.

MUMFORD & SONS – LITTLE LION MAN

I know it’s an awful title for a song and it’s a little acoustic at the start but when the banjo comes in it’s like a fucking kick in the pants.  I love it.  You should too.  Download it today.

NEW TUNE TUESDAY: MGMT

I can’t help but get excited whenever I hear “Kids”, “Time to Pretend” or “Electric Feel” from MGMT’s debut album Oracular Spectacular.  Whether you heard one of those songs on a blog or in a movie, you were hooked the minute it came on.  You also probably got excited when you heard they were releasing a new album this Spring.

If you’ve already downloaded Congratulations this morning, you’ve probably been scratching your head ever since.  I’ve made it through 8 out of 9 tracks on Congratulations – only because itunes says “Siberian Breaks” is processing and has been for 4 hours.  I didn’t know what to expect after reading some early reviews, but I love it.  It’s trippy and different and exactly what I want from a band trying to grow.

I’m sure many people will be looking for “Time To Pretend” 2 and it’s not on there.  This album is not for the casual listener.  I don’t really know who it’s for honestly, but that won’t stop me from enjoying it.  It’s not perfect, but it’s a great sophmore effort.

SURFER BLOOD – TAKE IT EASY

I can’t get this jam out of my head.  I just downloaded the whole album on itunes.  I give it a B+.  It’s solid.  I give “Take It Easy” an A+.  Great jam.  It suits the weather in Nashville perfectly.
