Let’s be honest, the Super Bowl halftime show last night was horrendous. The spectacle of lights and movement was ok…I guess, but I wasn’t watching for that. I was watching because the Black Eyed Peas were supposed to blow me away. They’ve sold a zillion records. After their performance, I wondered why.
I’ve respected them since I read an interview with will.i.am in Rolling Stone magazine last summer. He’s an interesting guy. He doesn’t need the other 3 to further his career. He’s hit the top before and no doubt he’ll do it again (solo). He’ll be fine without the others, but they won’t be fine without him. You see tastes have changed since 2008. I think Katy Perry would have been more entertaining to watch last night. She seems more relevant than BEP.
I think the big problem with the Black Eyed Peas is that they take themselves too seriously. They think they speak for the world with their terrible lyrics and ripped off beats. Maybe I’m being too hard on them. Then again, Fergie’s rendition of “Sweet Child O’ Mine” was worse than I could have ever imagined. She sounded like a man trying to hold a tune while passing a kidney stone.
My favorite part of the show was the sign at the end of their performance. It read “The Beginning.” It might have been more appropriate it had it read “The End” – as in the end of the Black Eyed Peas career. BOOM.
Apparently Giselle (girlfriend of New England Patriots QB Tom Brady) said she’d run through midtown Manhattan buck-naked if the Giants upset the Patriots. Now she’s reneging:
“It was a mistake and I’m sorry I said it. I don’t know what I could have been thinking — Midtown Manhattan is a parking lot any time of day or night. It’d take 30 minutes just to make it from the Theater District to 34th Street. And what if I ran into the Naked Cowboy and had to pose for pictures with every out-of-town Tom, Dick and Harry? Tack on another 30 minutes, easily. How ’bout I simply flashed my breasts from a billboard in Times Square and call it a day … will that work?”
Come on Giselle make all my dreams come true. Please! It’s never good to back out of a deal. I hate you Tom Brady!
I know most people don’t come to ChetHondo.com to read, so I’ll make this piece as short as I can. Wow is all I can say. The Giants wanted to win; the Patriots did not. I’m happy for Eli and the New York Football Giants. I would have liked to have seen the Patriots go 19-0 but we’ll never see another undefeated team in the NFL. It’s too hard. The league is a lot different now than it was in the 70’s. Congrats Giants! I hate to say it but you deserved it tonight!

Sadly if I ever met him I’d probably ask the same thing.
***NOTE: I’m not gay, but I do have a man-crush on Mr. Brady. How could you not? He’s a dreamboat.
